Exit Abacus was formed in Spring of 2008 by Craig Ceremuga and Derek Mansen during a gathering of friends experimenting with music. We were toying around with our synthesizers and other equipment and got the idea to collaborate and release some improvised experimental electronic music and the rest is history.
Craig Ceremuga
From a young age, Craig was raised on music and was first introduced to electronic music by his brother when he was 12 years old. With the advent of computer music breaking into the mainstream, Craig began experimenting with software based music creation during middle school. During college, Craig acquired a great love for ambient music due to its calming qualities and seemingly boundless musical soundscapes. He started releasing tracks under the moniker of Thought Frequency during his early college years and expanded his studio and equipment as time has progressed to where it is today.
Derek Mansen
Derek was interested in music at a very early age. He began playing guitar at age six. He was introduced to electronic music in high school and has been pursuing it since. After hearing that the Yamaha DX-7 was Brian Eno's favorite synthesizer, he purchased one on eBay and began the long task of learning how to create odd, interesting sounds. He has made a number of scattered recordings with various friends and the electronic musician Adhesion.
